AASA 2023 Prize Recipients 
AASA was very excited to announce prize winners at the Animal Cultures Conference Dinner. The 2023 prizes were donated by AASA members, in honour of the late Associate Professor Siobhan O’Sullivan.

 
  • The 2023 Journal Article by an Early Career Researcher Prize ($500) was awarded to authors Jes Hooper, Thomas Aiello, Kristine Hill, Michelle Szydlowski, Sarah Oxley Heaney, “Nothing More than ‘Anti-Cull Activists’: Accusations of Bias and the Politics of Research that Advocates for Non-Human Animals”, Animal Studies Journal, 12(1), 2023, 70-95. 

 

  • The 2023 AASA Popular Communication of Animals Studies Prize ($500) was awarded to Kris Hill , Michelle Szydlowski, Sarah Oxley Heaney , Irene Perrett , Gill Howarth, Louise Hayward , Jes Hooper, Tom Aiello for their work to establish and develop Anthrozoology as International Practice: A Student Conference in Human-Animal Studies.

Congratulations to the 2023 prize winners! And many thanks to everyone who submitted entries– the selection panel were very impressed by all the exciting work being done in the field.
