Research interests / activities
My work focuses on emotions and animals during the eighteenth century. I'm especially interested in the development of compassion and sympathy towards animals as an emotional rule. My thesis examines a number of topics from an emotions perspective including pet-keeping and the lower orders, rabies, Jennifer Jornvivisection and experimentation, and early children's literature about animals.
