Research interests / activities

My PhD research focuses on purebred dog breeding practices in Aotearoa New Zealand. By drawing from key components of intersectional (eco)feminist, posthumanist and critical animal studies approaches, my research will put purebred dog breeding under critical investigation. Through my PhD study, I want to reveal and challenge the gender-and species-based oppression and exploitation within all purebred dog breeding practices, even the ones that are claimed to be ‘ethical’ through a discourse of ‘responsible breeding’.
