Call for Papers: Animalia, An Anthrozoology Journal

Calling all Animal Studies scholars and undergrads!

Animalia: An Anthrozoology Journal (https://www.animaliajournal.org/) is an online, digital journal for Anthrozoology/Animal Studies scholars and talented undergraduate students. This project was created and is maintained by a handful of students and alumni of the Anthrozoology Master of Science program at Canisius College in Buffalo, NY, under the guidance of program director Dr. Joshua Russell.

Animalia has two aims: to explore and advance the vast range of disciplines in human-animal studies and animal studies, and to encourage exchange among scholars and students by providing a forum for critical thought, shared ideas, and enlightening discussions.

We invite innovative submissions that situate these topics within a variety of frameworks and approaches. We are accepting the following types of work:

  • Scholarly papers
  • Short editorials
  • Media (book, movie) reviews
  • Creative pieces (photography, drawings, short stories, poetry)

All paper submissions submitted to Animalia pass through a three-stage peer-review and revision process: (1) the submission is initially reviewed by the editors of Animalia; (2) if it is judged to be potentially publishable, then the article is sent to our peer review team for further review; (3) if the peer review process is positive, an Animalia editor will work with the author to prepare the submission for eventual publication. Media reviews and creative submissions undergo editorial review.

All submissions can be uploaded through the Submissions page on the Animalia website.

* Undergraduate submissions should be accompanied by a faculty recommendation.*
