Research interests / activities:

I am researching the social determinants of animal rights activism. In particular, I am interested in the experiences of AR activists who fall into the precariat or working class. The current relevance of ‘class’ concepts within grassroots activism is something I want to explore. I am also interested in the impact of gender and race and hope to include them in an intersectional account of AR activist backgrounds. I am particularly interested in the impact of socioeconomics on the choice of activist strategies. I hope to uncover previously unexplored forms of activism by marginalised activists who don’t ‘join’ organisations.
