My research problem is the morality of killing animals in utilitarian ethics. I am working from a utilitarian perspective and want to give special attention to the question of animal minds, questioning whether the mental attributes we consider relevant in the debate about death and killing (such as time-awareness, self-consciousness, etc.) are present in the case of non-human animals.

My main interest is animal ethics, particularly in practical ethics. I am also interested in animal consciousness and cognition, value theory in regards to well-being, animal suffering, and the value of life and death for non-human animals.
