My research interests are critical animal studies, rights discourse, meat workers’ rights, and intersections with critical disability studies.

My dissertation for an MA in human rights looked at how human superiority to other animals is implied in human rights instruments and discourses. My writing interests are the use of language in normalising animal exploitation and denigrating human ‘others’; reclaiming the identity of ‘animal’ for human animals; and the parallels and intersections of the animal abolition and prison abolition movements.
